Dutch Barras
BARRAS (Dutch Barras)
A coarse linen fabric similar to sack cloth; first produced in Holland. Not much used today. Dutch Barras is mentioned in 1640 in a charter granted by Charles II. In 1754 two million yards were imported into England. Also known as Hessen.
